Puerto Vargas Beach: It is located in the Cahuita National Park and presents three sectors loaded with tropical vegetation within its several kilometres of extension. The sector comprised from the point to the jetty of Puerto Vargas is characterised for its crystalline and calm waters.
The second sector from Puerto Vargas to the entrance of the beach has dark sands and intermediate type of surf, whilst in the last sector, which extends up to the mouth of the Carbon River, the surf is strong and opened to the sea.
Negra Beach: It has dark sands due to the high content of manganese it presents. It does not have much vegetation due to its closeness to the most transited street in the Town of Puerto Viejo. Its surf varies from moderate to strong.
Pirikiki Beach: It is in front of the Town of Puerto Viejo. It is extensive, with white sands and unsettled surf (surfing is practiced in here), and it has a platform of reefs that can be appreciated depending on the height of the tide. Unlike Negra Beach it has palm trees and other tropical features that give it an especial countenance.
Uva Beach: It is possible to do almost everything in here: fishing on the edge of the reefs, surfing with true delight (especially from September to December), diving with or without scuba gear, playing on the sand or camping nearby the shoreline, almost always covered with tropical vegetation.
It is located south of Puerto Viejo and it impresses visitors due to the whiteness of its sand, its calm surf (mostly between May and April), its diaphanous waters and its attractive coral formations.
Puerto Viejo and Cocles Beaches: It has an extension of 10 kilometres, 10 kilometres of white and tempting sands, with a coral reef in the middle, magnificent and splendid, which has formed a natural aquarium for the delight of fervent devotees of free diving and snorkelling.
There is a varied infrastructure of tourist services in this zone, including shops renting surfboards and mountain bikes. It is located south of Puerto Viejo, 10 kilometres after Cahuita, following the highway leading to Bribrí.
Manzanillo Beach: It is very suitable for calm swimming or for submerging in its waters, which present coral reefs. It has sands slightly yellow and an extension of 4 kilometres.
It is located 20 kilometres south of Puerto Viejo, going through a dirt road, very near the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Natural Refuge.
