Barra del Colorado Beach: It has dark sands and strong surf. It has a 5-kilometre extension between the mouth of the Colorado River and the Samay Lagoon. It is ideal for trekking while delighting yourself watching the flora and fauna, and with the peaceful contemplation of the sea.
The prettiness of the beach is added to the picturesque and austere tranquillity of the nearby Town of Colorado, a community of fishermen and farmers that has an airstrip, for it is the only way of reaching this place.
It is located within the Barra del Colorado Wildlife National Refuge and it is limited by the mouth of the Colorado River to the north and the estuary to the south. You have to go to the beach on a boat from the Town.
Tortuguero Beach: Huge sea turtles of the green species (Chelonia mydas) lay their eggs on its shore of dark sands. The ritual repeats itself yearly from July to the first days of October on a grandiose natural spectacle that impresses travellers.
The beach is marvellous for sunbathes and relaxing walks. It is 5 kilometres long and it can only be accessed by boat. Its surf is strong hence you need to be careful when the time for a dive comes.
It is located in Tortuguero National Park, 80 kilometres north of Limon. It offers good quality lodging facilities.
Moin Beach: It is a beach of grey sands and opened to the sea. It is located northwest of Limon, between the Caribbean Sea and the canals of Tortuguero. It has an interesting flora and fauna and its amusement menu offers satiating dishes such as sport fishing, pleasant hikes, and of course the almost endless pleasure of the sun and the sea.
Bonita Beach: Its name is in accordance with the attractions this hard to access beach has to offer, besides being an unrivalled scenery for the practice of surfing thanks to its strong breakers. It has yellowish sands and one of its exclusive attractions is the rock formation at its southern end, called Punta Blanca, where sea flora and fauna is abundant.
It is located 5 kilometres north of the City of Limon. It is recommendable to swim with caution, mostly in the west zone of the beach where energetic and complicated currents usually show up.
