HEREDIA
WEATHER AND CLIMATE
Pierced between the Central Valley and the Central Volcanic Cordillera, the Province of Heredia presents an interesting diversity of geographic settings with weather characteristics and conditions that vary depending on the altitudinal ranges, from 0 to 2900 metres above sea level.
From sea level up to the massif of the Poás Volcano, the annual average temperature rises up to 27.5º Celsius, while it is of 15º Celsius in the lands bordering the Barva Volcano. Besides, there is an intermediate zone that oscillates between 20º and 25º Celsius, being this the area holding the largest population.
Rainfalls in Heredia are present during the entire year; although, downpours increase between June and August, and between November and January. For this reason, it is advisable to visit Costa Rica during the so-called dry season, which goes from February to May.
