COCOS ISLAND
LODGING
There is neither lodging facilities nor hotels for travellers at Cocos Island, where only marine biologists, park rangers and scientists dwell. Visitors have to spend the night onboard the tourist cruisers anchoring in the area.
Tourists vessels departing from Puntarenas bound to Cocos Island (the trip takes 32 hours) offer lodging to their passengers. The service is known as "life onboard" and includes all the meals, the entrance ticket to the National Park, and a guide for all hikes and excursions, besides the permit for scuba diving.
Boats offering the service are usually for 20 to 25 persons and they have recreation rooms, gyms and swimming pools that will make your stay even more pleasant.
The cruisers operate tours lasting 10 days / 9 nights or 11 days / 10 nights. Departures are on Saturdays and Tuesdays respectively. It is advisable to book your reservation with due anticipation.
