CARTAGO
WEATHER AND CLIMATE
Tropical and misty, these are the climatic characteristics in the Province of Cartago, and in the entire Central Valley of Costa Rica, with an annual average temperature of 19º Celsius.
In general terms, Cartago is usually or rather frequently covered with clouds due to the misty banks dragged by the trade winds. The constant mistiness of the Province originates constant rains, rains that generate life.
The pluvial precipitations register an annual rate of 1400 millimetres. This number increases and fluctuates between 2500 and 3500 millimetres in mountainous areas. Rainfalls are a lot more frequent during the last and early months of every year.
If you do not wish to "wet" too much your eagerness for adventure, visit Cartago between February and June, the dry season, when the "tears of the skies" are more sporadic and the weather is rather benign.
