CARTAGO
HOW TO GET THERE
Distances are usually rather short in Costa Rica; therefore moving around its territory is a pretty simple thing to do. In the case of the Province of Cartago there are only 23 kilometres separating it from the capital of the country, San José. Several public transportation units cover the distance.
If travellers are in San José they can get on the buses bound for Cartago at the bus terminal located on 5th Street and 18th and 20th Avenues. The vehicles set off every 10 minutes from 5:00 hours up till 24:00 hours. The trip lasts roughly 45 minutes and the cost of the ticket is of about 50 cents of a US dollar.
The bus service has the disadvantage, mostly for the impatient kind of travellers, of not being direct, meaning they stop constantly along the way, thus stretching the time of the trip to the terminal in Cartago, which is located in the Central Park of the said City.
